MICRODERMABRASION

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is one of the most modern methods available in Aesthetic Medicine for skin renewal.

In essence, it is a preventive regenerative treatment, which fights the damage the skin suffers from the passage of time, offering an amazing glow and deep renewal in a completely natural way.

It is an effective and less aggressive skin rejuvenation treatment for the face, neck and décolleté. This is the method that aims to remove the outer layer of the skin of the face through the mechanical exfoliation of its dead cells.

It is indicated for all skin types and mainly fights photoaging problems and mild color damage, while frequent repetition of the treatment has been shown to soften fine wrinkles.

At the same time it has been proven that it can improve some forms of acne.

How exactly is microdermabrasion treatment done?

Through a micro-injury made on the surface of the skin with the Microdermabrasion device, both skin renewal and the softening of fine surface wrinkles and mild discolouration are achieved.

This method uses microcrystals (aluminum or aluminum oxide crystals) which are ejected under high pressure in a controlled manner from the device and hit the surface of the skin at high speed. This results in the skin, through this mechanical exfoliation process, being exfoliated and cleansed of dead cells.

By what mechanism does skin texture improve?

With the Microdermabrasion method, the horny layer of the skin is removed and specialized regeneration cells called fibroblasts are mobilized in order to produce collagen and elastin, activating the body’s natural healing process.

At the same time, hyperemia is caused in the area where the Microdermabrasion device is applied, due to the microtrauma, which helps in further regeneration of the skin.

At the end of each session, on the head filter (which is unique for each patient) the remote dead skin cells that made it look dull, distressed and consequently aged can be seen.
