Dermatosurgery is the subspecialty of Dermatology that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of various skin diseases (medical and cosmetic) with the aim of their functional and aesthetic restoration.

Treatment of benign skin lesions
This includes the treatment of benign skin tumors such as papillomas, moles (olives), cysts, lipomas, sebaceous hyperkeratoses, cherry hemangiomas, etc.

The technique to be used (removal with a scalpel, use of laser, cryosurgery, electrosurgery) is chosen by the doctor and depends both on the character of the damage and on parameters concerning the patient himself.

Treatment of precancerous and malignant skin lesions
It concerns the surgical removal or treatment with other methods of the following lesions:

  • actinic hyperkeratosis

  • basal cell carcinoma
  • squamous cell carcinoma
  • malignant melanoma

In the clinic, with the help of a medical program, dermoscopy and mapping of moles (olives) is performed with the aim of early diagnosis and treatment of skin melanoma.

The technique to be used (simple or complex surgical resection with flap or graft, use of laser, cryosurgery, electrosurgery)
it is chosen by the doctor and depends both on the nature of the damage and on parameters concerning the patient himself.

Taking a skin biopsy
Biopsy is a routine procedure in daily clinical practice and, contrary to what most patients believe, it is not always related to cancer. The histopathological analysis by the pathologist directs and/or confirms the diagnosis with a view to the correct treatment of
skin disease.
