What is it;
The application of threads in Cosmetology is a relatively new medical method with a history of only sixty years. The first threads were applied in the 60s and over the years, their application techniques were modified and improved.
Despite the excellent results they had initially, the long duration of the operation (two hours), specific side effects, the shorter duration of the result than expected as well as the non-absorbable materials from which they were made did not make them popular with the general public.
In recent years, however, a new technique (injectable deposition of the threads) as well as their FULLY absorbable construction material (polydiaxone PDO or polylactic acid) annihilate the heavy complications, the operation time (the operation takes only a few minutes) and the recovery time (a few days in a few cases) caused the revolution in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology.
How are they applied?
They are applied to both the face and the body. There are different types of threads, from the simplest ones such as monofilaments (used for collagen production) with the end result of skin radiance, to suspension threads used for tissue lifting (lifting without a scalpel).
The method is applied in the doctor’s office with local anesthesia (anesthetic cream or injection as at the dentist) without surgical incisions and stitches. Threads are placed completely painlessly. They are placed using the special, thin, hollow needles in which the threads are located. Each needle carries a thread and by simply, painlessly inserting it into the skin and removing it, the thread is placed in the location we have predetermined. PDO (polydiaxon) injectable threads are 100% absorbable making them the safest.
Are there side effects?
There are no serious side effects (precisely because they are COMPLETELY absorbable) but only some mild ones such as juicing that can last up to twelve days.
