What are papillomas?
Papillomas are benign skin growths. Many also call them moles and they are small, round, stalked, skin bumps. The papilloma is usually skin-colored.
Caused
Papillomas are caused by HPV viruses, the viruses that cause warts and warts. However, papillomas are not equally contagious. That is, they are not easily transmitted from person to person. The main HPV viruses responsible for causing papillomas are HPV 6 and HPV 11.
Where are they located?
Papillomas are often found on the neck, face and especially on the eyelids, armpits, chest and groin areas. But often as they grow or multiply they can cause various discomforts. So patients with papillomas report itching in the area and a burning sensation. Many times the papillae are injured and bleed.
How are they treated?
Removal of papillomas should be done by your dermatologist. It can be done with laser (CO2), cryotherapy, diathermocoagulation or surgery.
